Qualifications:

(a)    A Degree in any branch of Engineering of a recognized University or its equivalent qualification.  In the absence of qualified hands under (a) above,

(b)   Diploma in any branch of Engineering from a Government Polytechnic or any Polytechnic recognized by Government or its equivalent qualification.

Training

(1)   The appointed candidates shall be on pre service training for a period of six months during which they shall be paid the minimum of the scale of pay attached to the post plus usual allowances.  In the case of a person who is a already in service and whose pay is more than the minimum of the scale of pay to the post of Group Instructor, he/she shall be allowed to draw the pay and allowances he/she would have drawn but for his/her appointment under these rules.

(2)   The period of Training shall not be counted for the purposes of probation and seniority.

(3)   The appointed candidates shall be deputed for Central Training Institute.  Training in any one of the Central Training Institutes of India and they shall be eligible for promotion only if they complete the training successfully.

Probation

On regular appointment after training the person shall be on probation for a total period of two years on duty within a continuous period of three years.

Appointments are made subject to the rank secured in the ranked list of candidates prepared in pursuance of this Notification subject to the conditions laid down in GO(MS)No.142/72/PD dated 13.04.1972.  GO(MS)No.309/73/PD dated 29.11.1973 and GO (P) 21/76/PD dated 17.01.1976 and GO (P) No.25/94/GAD dated 22.01.1994 allowing special reservations to Scheduled Tribes, and in accordance with the procedures made for this purpose from time to time and subject to the rules under sections 3 (c), 17 (a), 17 (b) of Part II of Kerala State and Subordinate Service Rules, 1958.
