2. Applications should not be sent to more than one district in response to this notification. If applications are sent contrary to the above direction and if he/she is selected, his/her name will be removed from the ranked lists and disciplinary action will be taken against him/her. Candidates should submit applications for this post to the concerned District Officer of the Commission and should note the name of that District against the relevant column in the application (Side B) and darken the bubble in the OMR Sheet (Side A). 3. The selection in pursuance of this notification will be made on a Revenue District basis, subject to the special conditions laid down in G.O.(Ms) No.154/71/PD dated 27.5.1971. A candidate advised for appointment in the Revenue District from the ranked list prepared is not eligible for transfer to another district unless he/she completes 5 years continuous service from the date of commencement of service in the former district. Even if transfer is allowed after 5 years, it will be subject to the rules in G.O.(Ms)No.4/61/PD dated 2.1.1961.
Candidates already in Government Service holding this post in any one district are prohibited from applying again for this post, but they can apply to higher posts when notified.5. Method of appointment :Direct Recruitment
6. Age Limit : Should have completed 18 (Eighteen) years of age and should not have completed 35 (Thirty five) years of age as on 01.01.2008 with usual relaxation to Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Communities.

7. Qualifications: (i) Must be a Pensioned Junior Commissioned Officer of the Army or equivalent in the Navy or Air-Force.
OR
(ii) In the absence of candidates with the qualification mentioned in item (i) above, candidates with literacy in English and Ten years Military Service in the Army, Navy or Airforce.
OR
(iii) In the absence of qualified hands under item (i) and item (ii) above, S.S.L.C. or equivalent with six months Police or Military Training.
Note:- 1. A working knowledge in Malayalam, Tamil or Kannada shall be an essential qualification.
2. Physically handicapped candidates shall not be eligible for the post. Hence sub para (x) on para 2 and para 5 of the general conditions are not applicable to the posts.
3. The candidates shall produce a Medical Certificate from a Medical Officer not below the rank of a Civil Surgeon Grade II to prove the following physical qualification at the time of interview:-
a. (i) Height – 167 cms.
(ii) Chest – 81 cms. with a minimum expansion of 5 cms.
Minimum Height and Chest measurement shall be 160 cms. and 76 cms. respectively for SC/ST candidates. The minimum chest expansion of 5 cms. shall however be applicable for them also.
b. Visual standards with Glasses:

Note: - The above mentioned posts are included in the LGS Service rules ammended as per G.O (P) 271/80 dated 3.7.80. A common ranked list will be prepared for all posts mentioned above in pursuance of this notification. Candidates will be advised from the lists thus prepared as and when vacancies are reported by the appointing authorities (only one application need be sent for all posts mentioned above noting the name of post applied for as ‘Depot Watcher’ etc. Separate applications need not be sent for each post).

Note: 1. Separate ranked list will be prepared for each district in pursuance of this notification. Ranked list thus prepared and published by the Commission shall remain in force for a minimum period of one year, subject to the condition that the said lists will continue to be in force till the publication of new lists after the expiry of the minimum period of one year or till the expiry of three years whichever is earlier. Candidates will be advised for appointment against the aforesaid vacancies and also against the vacancies, if any, reported during the currency of the lists. In case no candidate is advised from the ranked lists till the expiry of the period of three years the duration of the ranked list shall be extended for a further period of one year or till at least one candidate is advised from the list whichever is earlier.
2. Applications should not be sent to more than one district in response to this notification. If applications are sent contrary to the above direction and if he/she is selected his/her name will be removed from the ranked lists and disciplinary action will be taken against him/her. Candidates should submit applications for this post to the concerned District Officer of the Commission and should note the name of that District against the relevant column in the application (Side B) and darken the bubble in the OMR Sheet (Side A). The address of the District Officers to which applications are to be sent is furnished in column (10) of the notification.
3. The selection in pursuance of the notification will be made on a Revenue District basis, subject to the special conditions laid down in G.O.(MS)No.154/71/PD dated, 27.5.1971. A candidate advised for appointment in the Revenue District from the ranked list prepared is not eligible for transfer to another district unless he/she completes 5 years continuous service from the date of commencement of service in the former district. Even if transfer is allowed after 5 years, it will be subject to the rules in G.O.(MS)No.4/61/PD dated, 02.01.1961. Candidates already in Government service holding this post in any one district are prohibited from applying again for this post, but they can apply to higher posts when notified.
4. Women and Physically handicapped candidates are not eligible to apply for the post.
5. The provisions for the award of weightage marks (5 marks) as contemplated in para 7 of the General condition is applicable to this post. Therefore a candidate who applies to this post to the District to which he belongs shall produce a certificate issued by competent Revenue Authority not below the rank of the Village Officer concerned to the effect that he belongs to the District to which he has made his application.

6. The candidates included in the ranked list prepared in pursuance of this notifications will be advised for appointment as per rules against the Head Quarters vacancies, if any reported.
5. Method of appointment: Direct Recruitment.
6. Age limit : Should have completed 18 (Eighteen) years of age and should not have completed 35 (Thirty Five)years of age as on 1.1.2008 with usual relaxation to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Communities.
Note: - For concessions allowed in upper age limit, subject to the condition that the maximum age limit shall in no case exceed 50 years, please see para 2 of the general conditions under Part (2) of this Notification.
7. Qualifications:
1. Pass in Standard VII (New) or equivalent qualification.
2. Physical fitness.
Height – 163 cms.
Chest (Normal) – 79 cms
Chest (on expansion) - 84 cms
Note: - A minimum chest expansion of 5 cms is required.
8. Last date for receipt of application: 12/3/2008 Wednesday upto 5.00 P.M.
9. Applications Form and Application Fee: -
The application form is a single sheet of paper printed on both sides to facilitate Computer Processing also using the Optical Mark Reader (OMR). Side ‘A’ is the OMR data sheet and Side ‘B’ is the conventional application form. The candidates must darken the bubble in Side A and fill up columns in Side B of the application.
The Cost of the application form is Rs.10/- (Rupees Ten only). The cost of the application form for SC/ST candidates of Kerala State is Rs.5/- (Rupees five only). The application should be filled up in accordance with the directions contained in the information brochure supplied along with the application form. The application can be obtained from the various offices of the Kerala Public Service Commission and from the various Post Offices in Kerala.
Note: 1. Documents to prove qualification, age, community etc., have to be produced as and when called for. No copies of documents should be attached with the application.
2. Application should be submitted in the form devised and printed by the Kerala Public Service Commission and those applications submitted otherwise will be summarily rejected.
