| Applications are invited from qualified Last Grade Employees in the Schools under the Kerala Higher Secondary Education Department for admission to the Eligibility Test for appointment as Laboratory Assistant vide G.O.(P)144/01(Gl.Edn.) dated 16-4-2001. |
| Qualification: Pass in 7th Standard. Upper Age Limit is not applicable to this test. Candidates who submit valid applications will have to appear for a Written Test. The appointment will be on the basis of seniority from those who have passed this test. 25% of the total vacancies in the Higher Secondary Schools are reserved for them. In the absence of qualified candidates, these vacancies will be filled up by Direct Recruitment. Self attested copy to prove the educational qualification should accompany the application. (Please see Appendix-I to Malayalam Version of the notification for model format). |
| Syllabus:- Applicants those who are found eligible to be called for the Laboratory attenders test have to write an Objective type test (OMR Valuation) of 1 hour 15 minutes duration, with maximum 100 marks (SSLC standard) based on the following subjects:- (i) Physics (ii) Chemistry (iii) Biology (Botany & Zoology) |
| Application Form:- Candidates should apply in the application form exclusively prescribed for " Eligibility Tests/Suitability Tests". The application forms are available at the Head Office and District Offices of the Commission on payment of Rs.10/- (Rupees Ten only). The words "Application for admission to the Eligibility Test for Last Grade Employees for appointment as Laboratory Assistants (Laboratory Attenders Test)"should be superscribed on top of the envelope. Note:- Applications not countersigned by the Head of the Department/Office will be rejected. Candidates are not required to send their application through the Head of Dept./Office. Applications with the countersignature, name, designation, date. Office seal of the Head of the Dept./Office may be sent by the candidate direct to this office. |

| 3. | Qualifications : | (A) Must possess any Degree mentioned below: (a) B.Sc. Degree in Engineering

| (c) Diploma in Craftsmanship in the trade of Draftsman (Civil) or (Surveyor) obtained after 18 months course (followed by six month's practical training) at the Industrial Training Institute/Centres conducted by the Government of India Ministry of Labour. |

| Note (i ) Candidates who have successfully completed the Industrial Training of 18 months will also be treated as qualified even if they have not completed the period of practical training. (ii)
Persons already in service as on 20-11-58 holding a certificate secured
after undergoing Draftsman Civil Training under T.T.C. Scheme. College
of Engineering, (iii) Diploma in Craftsmanship (trade test certificate) in the trade of Draftsman (Civil) awarded to private candidates without insisting on six months practical training. (c) Diploma in Agricultural and Rural Engineering given by the Rural Institute, Thavanur. (d) Pass in the Overseer course conducted by Government. (e) Diploma in Civil Engineering (2 year's course) of the Women's Polytechnics of the State. (f) Kerala Government (Certificate Examination in Civil Engineering) (2 year's course) and must have rendered service under Municipal Common Service for a minimum period of 5 years of which not less than two years should be in the category of Grade I Overseer. A certificate to the effect that the candidates have rendered service as on the last date of receipt of application under Municipal Common Service for a minimum period of two years as pointed out in item A above or 5 years of which not less than 2 years should be in the category of Grade I Overseer as mentioned in item B above obtained from the Head of Office/Department should be produced as and when required by the Commission. This certificate should not be sent now along with the application. |
| Note:1. Direct Recruitment and appointment by promotion shall be made in the ratio 6:4 of the six places allotted for direct recruitment one shall be reserved for direct recruitment from among persons holding post viz; Public Works Overseer Grade I/Draftsman Grade I/Water Works Inspector Grade I/Town Planning and Building Inspector/Town Planning Surveyor and possess any of the qualifications as follows: (a)

The selection in pursuance of this notification will be made on a Revenue District basis, subject to the special conditions laid down in G.O.(MS)No.154/71/PD dated, 27.05.71 adopted by the Kerala State Electricity Board vide its order dated, 15-2-1989. Accordingly, a candidate advised for appointment in one Revenue District from the ranked list prepared is not eligible for transfer to another district unless he completes 5 years continuous service from the date of commencement of service in the former district. Even if transfer is allowed after 5 years, it will be subject to the rules in G.O.(MS) No.4/61/PD dated, 2-1-1961. Candidates already in the service of the Kerala State Electricity Board holding this post in any one District are prohibited from applying again for this post, but they can apply to higher posts when notified. |
